Communications Specialist

Supporting an AI Strategy initiative within the Department of Veterans Affairs, the full-time Communications Specialist will provide day-to-day communications support to senior leadership, translating complex AI concepts into clear messaging for diverse stakeholders. Key responsibilities Develop, draft, and refine written communications products such as briefings, newsletters, and slide decks that reflect program leadership's priorities Manage digital communication channels to ensure stakeholders have timely access to accurate program information and updates Coordinate internal and external meetings, preparing agendas, capturing action items, and drafting meeting summaries Required qualifications Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in communications support within a technical or government environment Equivalent professional experience in communications, public affairs, or technical writing accepted in lieu of a degree Prior experience with federal agency programs or large-scale public sector clients is strongly preferred Ability to obtain and maintain VA network access and comply with VA information security requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite, SharePoint, and virtual meeting platforms
