Transportation Associate

Job TitleAssist in coordinating the activities of Tricont truck drivers. The Dispatch Assistant also plays a vital role in ensuring the company's continued success by ensuring they are dependable, focused on safety and to be flexible and cooperative. The Dispatch Assistant should have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations and possess the ability to help with staffing, recruiting, and mentoring CDL Drivers.Accountabilities:Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers by exceeding their expectationsDispatch delivery routes and make changes as and when requiredAssisting office manager with onboarding new driversRecord drivers PTO to send to payrollCoordinate and manage schedules of drivers to ensure product is delivered on timeDaily communication with drivers, customers, shippers and managementManage tendering process via TMS to route the lowest cost providerTrack drivers log such as dispatched orders and arrival timesRecord monthly tractor/trailer miles and reefer hoursOrder and arrange cleaning of driver's uniformsMaintain on time Delivery performance of 97% or betterUpdate/track carrier/driver location information within company guidelinesCoordinate with 3rd party carrier on loads tenderedManaging demurrage, detention, and other accessorial costs with customer and carrierAssist with the pickup and drop-off of trucks to the vendor shopAssist inside sales effortsKeep paperwork for trucks currentMinimum Skills Required:Work hours – 40 + hours per week as needed (Monday - Friday)High School diploma or GED, but college degree preferred3-6 years of transportation and 3rd party dispatch experience in sourcing and developing carriers and routing.Work independently, great communicator & customer service skillsNegotiation skillsProblem solving/Investigation skillsAbility to coordinate high volume phone skillsComputer experience with Microsoft products like excel and emailAccurate typing skillsPreferred transportation experienceHigh School Degree/ College DegreeData Entry & high-volume phone skillsGood/Great Communicator & customer service skillsProblem Solving/InvestigationComputer experience, preferably brokerage or assetAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to resolve conflictsAbility to organize/prioritize variety of tasks/projectsMS Office Skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)***Please note: This position does not qualify for relocation expenses. ***Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is a global leader in the production, distribution, and marketing of fresh and fresh-cut fruits and vegetables.
