Territory Manager - Personal Lines (CA - Central Valley / Fresno)

Territory Manager – Personal Lines Location: Central Valley / Fresno, California. Candidate must reside within the assigned territory; preferably near Fresno. The role requires frequent travel and regular in‑person engagement with agency partners across the territory. Employment type: Full‑time (exempt). Travel: Frequent travel within the territory, including potential overnight stays. Driver's license required. Key Responsibilities Understand the strategic and operational goals of the assigned territory and distribution partners, identifying mutually beneficial solutions using data, analytics, local market info, and competitor knowledge. Proactively identify and implement actions to achieve territory goals. Lead new‑business and transfer processes, including new transfer and new business appointments, setting expectations and ensuring delivery of production. Leverage tools and resources (Salesforce, Seismic, dashboards, reporting) to increase operational efficiency. Gather distribution partner feedback and share continuous‑improvement opportunities with business partners across the company. Collaborate with personal lines, farm geography partners, and other Nationwide counterparts (claims, servicing, etc.) on problem solving, education, promotion, reviewing sales practices, and providing input. Complete annual planning for appropriate distribution partners, document agreements in Salesforce, and hold partners accountable to agreements. Partner with product, marketing, and other business partners to identify and act on opportunities within the territory. Lead portfolio‑management meetings with distribution partners to ensure alignment with territory goals and monitor portfolio data to drive profitability and revenue. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Undergraduate degree preferred (business, insurance, sales, marketing or related field). Typically 8‑10 years of sales or sales‑management experience; prior property‑casualty or financial services experience desirable. Strong background in the independent agency distribution channel. Carrier‑side sales management experience; carrier and agency experience highly desirable. Track record of building results and top‑line performance. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and manage complexity. Customer‑focused with strong relationships and communication skills. Excellent ability to monitor work, set clear responsibilities, and measure results. Adaptable with situational agility and effective presentation skills. Knowledge of breaking down objectives into initiatives and actions. Reasonable ability to drive results, persuade, collaborate, and act with courage. This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $108,000.00 – $201,000.00 (territory manager – personal lines).
