Street Crew Leader

Job Summary

The position works under the direct supervision of the street supervisor and is responsible for leading and participating in the street construction and maintenance projects. The role involves operating a variety of light to heavy construction equipment and performing physically demanding outdoor labor.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operating equipment such as tractors, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, front end loaders, 10-wheel dump trucks, asphalt patchers, and sewer jetters.
• Assisting with the construction and maintenance of roads and drainage systems, sidewalks and other city infrastructure.
• Leading and coordinating crew activities on assigned projects.
• Responding to after-hours service calls as part of an on-call rotation.
• Performing other related duties as required.

Training And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Considerable experience in public works or related field, including demonstrated crew leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, materials and equipment used in public infrastructure work.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Requirements

• Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor conditions
• Ability to operate a wide range of construction equipment safely and effectively
