Lead Barista

As Lead Barista, you will serve as the lead on all beverage and coffee operations, working with company and store level leadership in overseeing day-to-day beverage and coffee operations at and execution needs as directed at any time. 

This, includes, but is not limited to, managing and developing Edith’s beverage and coffee operations in store, working with store leadership to place/oversee beverage orders, setting Barista schedules, serving as lead and trainer for all new and special beverage and coffee item launches, ensuring beverage quality and consistency at all times, assisting in continuously developing various new menu items and specials, ensuring operational excellence for all company offsite engagements, assisting in the development, roll out and integration of new beverage-related operational systems and processes, and maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety, all while assisting the team in leading the store.

Job Responsibilities:

• Communication and Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively and collaboratively with the CEO, Director of FOH Operations, Baristas, and other departments to ensure all goals are clearly communicated and met
• Leverage a foundational understanding of coffee-based drinks and equipment
• Provide feedback to the CEO and Director of FOH Operations on beverage operations and staff performance 
• Leadership and Supervision:
• Manage and supervise all baristas and oversee daily beverage operations, coordinating with other departments to ensure the store can execute its full beverage program at any given moment
• Work with Director of FOH Operations on scheduling barista staff 
• Work across the company as needed and as directed by the Company’s CEO to help ensure beverage quality, consistently and budget goals are being met at all times
• Work as lead barista, including regularly on weekends and holidays 
• Train and develop baristas, providing coaching and performance evaluations. 
• Monitor food quality and consistency, ensuring dishes are prepared according to recipe standards 
• Conduct line and taste tests and make adjustments to recipes as needed 
• Ensure adherence to all systems, kitchen policies, procedures, and safety standards, ensuring the beverage area is operating at an ‘A’ level inspection level 
• Analyze food costs and identify areas for cost reduction 
• Menu & System Development:
• Leverage a foundational understanding of beverages and coffee-based offerings to collaborate with company leadership in improving existing beverage offerings and in developing and implementing new beverage menu items (i.e. specials) and systems (i.e. training and operational checklists)
• Serve as corporate lead ensuring accurate and successful rollout of such beverage items and systems
• Inventory Control:
• Oversee the production and needs of all beverages at all times; ensure all orders are placed as needed, manage inventory, place orders within given budgets, ensure all orders are produced and packaged and delivered as required
• Ensure beverage equipment is used properly by staff and maintained in good working order and that beverage areas are kept clean and sanitary at all times
• Off-Site Leadership:
• Oversee the successful execution of all off-site engagements, including various types of events that Edith’s currently engages or plans to engage in, as requested by the Company’s CEO. Including, but not limited to, various off-site catering events, in and out-of-market pop-ups and collaborations, and venue residencies
