Diesel Mechanic Technician

Overview Position: Senior Level Diesel Technician – Pearl River, Louisiana Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Pearl River, Louisiana, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Responsibilities Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance. Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools and software. Completes detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision. Replaces defective components as instructed and works unsupervised on most tasks. Performs facility maintenance duties and interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue. Utilizes the Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Complies with all safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate guidelines. Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels; accesses and uses internal/external maintenance documents. Supports operations with additional duties as required, including Service Island support. Completes OEM diagnostic software courses as required by location fleet mix. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational/Technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred. Basic tools required. Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance and diagnostics (AC/electrical systems). Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred. CDL Class A or other location-specific certifications as required by position/location. Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment. Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse). Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and road test; pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (last 3 years).
