Staff Accountant

SIMKHAI is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team! If you're detail-oriented, enjoy solving problems, and want to work in the fashion industry, this is a great opportunity to build your accounting career in a fast-paced retail and e-commerce environment. In this role, you'll work across accounting, e-commerce, and operations to keep our financial records accurate while supporting the growth of our direct-to-consumer and wholesale business. What You'll Do: Accounting & Cash Reconciliations Prepare journal entries for revenue, cash, accruals, and adjustments Reconcile daily Shopify, e-commerce, and marketplace sales activity Match deposits, payment processor settlements, refunds, fees, and chargebacks Support month-end close and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation Accounts Receivable & Chargebacks Process customer invoices and cash applications Research and resolve deductions, shortages, pricing discrepancies, and chargebacks Partner with Sales, E-commerce, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve disputes and recover revenue Track and maintain detailed documentation for all deductions and chargebacks Sales Tax & Compliance Assist with monthly and quarterly sales tax filings across multiple jurisdictions Reconcile sales tax accounts and investigate variances Maintain exemption certificates and support tax audits as needed Reporting & Financial Support Assist with monthly financial reporting and account reconciliations Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation Help ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows Support ERP system enhancements as the business continues to grow Collaborate cross-functionally to improve billing accuracy and revenue reporting What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion, DTC, or e-commerce Experience with: General ledger accounting Month-end close Accounts receivable Cash reconciliations Shopify and marketplace reconciliations Payment processor settlements Chargebacks and customer deductions Sales tax compliance and filings Strong Excel skills and experience working in ERP systems Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment Benefits: We offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, FSA, 401(k) and PTO Additionally, we offer a generous clothing allowance and 50% employee discount off retail About Us: SIMKHAI is a luxury American fashion house where modern sensuality meets timeless luxury.
