Senior Director, Pathology

Overview:The Senior Director, Pathology will provide scientific leadership for the interpretation and application of clinical pathology data across Alnylam’s research and development portfolio. This individual will serve as a key subject matter expert, partnering with cross-functional teams to evaluate nonclinical study results, support regulatory submissions, guide biomarker and translational strategies, and inform program decisions from discovery through early development. The role requires deep expertise in clinical pathology, strong scientific communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders while mentoring team members and advancing innovative therapeutics in a fast-paced biotechnology environment.Key Responsibilities:Clinical pathology assessment of preclinical results for platform and program supportReview non-GLP and GLP study clinical pathology dataClearly interpret and report findings and position significance to program teams and broader audiences through descriptions, data tables, and scientific presentationsContribute clinical pathology reports and/or reviews for regulatory filingsConsult with other internal and external stakeholders on preclinical study design and interpretationActively participate in program and platform meetingsMentor the clinical pathology scientist and collaborate with all pathology team members to assure optimal support of data generation and analysis in nonclinical studiesShare biomarker and translational expertise across Research and Early DevelopmentParticipate in group, department and company meetings and activitiesQualifications:The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience as a pathologist in biotech, pharma or at a CROVeterinary degree and ACVP/ECVP board certification in clinical pathology; PhD preferred but not required in lieu of relevant pathology experienceDemonstrated scientific curiosity/aptitude through a scientific publication and/or presentation recordStrong interest in areas of Alnylam research emphasis; demonstrated experience preferredStrong communication skillsAbility/interest to travel for essential company activitiesAbout AlnylamWe are the leader in RNAi therapeutics – a revolutionary approach with the potential to transform the lives of people with rare and common diseases. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
