Now Hiring: Maintenance Technician – Affordable Living Community Location: Alpena Schedule: 34 hours per week, Monday - Friday Pay: $19.00 per hour plus PTO and benefits Help Create a comfortable place for our residents to call home! Do you enjoy hands-on work and take pride in keeping spaces functional and welcoming? We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to support our 65-unit Affordable Living Community ensuring residents have a clean, well-maintained environment to call home. This role offers a variety of tasks, from light repairs and preventative maintenance to groundskeeping and preparing apartments for new residents. Know that our Maintenance Tech is also responsible for vacuuming, sweeping & moping of the common areas of our community. What You’ll Do As a Maintenance Worker, you’ll play a key role in keeping the property running smoothly and safely: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and units Complete work orders efficiently, including light plumbing, electrical, and drywall repairs Maintain building interiors and exterior grounds, including lawn care and snow removal Prepare and clean vacant apartments for new residents Respond to maintenance requests and address issues with minimal supervision Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and materials Support general housekeeping and upkeep of shared spaces What You Bring High school diploma or GED preferred At least 1 year of general maintenance or handyman experience preferred Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, and general repairs Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, vendors, and contractors A customer-service mindset with compassion for individuals in affordable housing communities Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities Additional Requirements Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a good driving record Current automobile insurance (personal vehicle may be required for work use) Availability for on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays as needed What to Expect A dynamic, hands‑on role with a mix of indoor and outdoor work Occasional extended hours during emergencies or seasonal needs (like snow removal) Opportunity to make a daily impact in residents’ quality of life Make a Difference Every Day Your work directly contributes to safe, stable housing for individuals and families.
