Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist will independently perform imaging procedures, utilizing prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role requires a high level of technical skill and independent judgment to ensure optimal patient care and safety during interventional procedures.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
• Exhibit clear understanding of patient preparation, equipment operations, and monitoring systems.
• Support other departments by performing general radiographic procedures when needed.
• Foster an environment that supports aseptic techniques and patient safety, incorporating time-out processes.
• Administer contrast per assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Interact with patients and co-workers with a high level of care, dignity, and respect.
• Communicate instructions and explain procedures to patients to help alleviate fears and encourage cooperation.
• Properly identify all patients using two patient identifiers and universal protocols during procedures.
• Review patient history and assess physician orders to apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
• Document patient history in electronic records as necessary.
• Ensure exams are coded, tracked, and networking for archiving and interpretation is completed correctly; enter charges for exams performed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
• ARRT Certificate or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• State Licensure (specific to PA, NY, and MD as required).
