About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Community Service Associate to join our Community Services team.

In this role, you will work directly with individuals and families seeking community assistance and supportive services. You will help ensure client applications and documentation are complete, maintain accurate client records, assist with service and vendor documentation, answer incoming calls, and provide general administrative support to the Community Services team.

The ideal candidate is a people person who enjoys helping others , communicates professionally, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable working with computers and confidential client information.

What You'll Do

As a Community Service Associate, your responsibilities will include:

• Assist clients with the application and documentation process for community and supportive services.
• Compile and review client application documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate with team members to route completed applications for eligibility review and case management.
• Enter and maintain client information, service notes, and other documentation in client tracking systems and databases.
• Register and enroll eligible clients for food pantry access.
• Assist with preparing documentation needed to process payments to service vendors.
• Communicate with vendors and internal team members to help ensure services and payments are processed accurately and timely.
• Answer a high-volume, multi-line telephone system and direct calls to the appropriate team member or department.
• Respond to client questions in a professional, respectful, and customer-focused manner.
• Maintain organized and confidential client records.
• Assist with spreadsheets, data entry, correspondence, and other administrative responsibilities.
• Participate in community outreach events and other departmental activities.
• Follow applicable organizational policies and state and federal requirements.
• Provide additional support to the Community Services team as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of customer service-related experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate and understand information effectively in English
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Experience working with computers and performing accurate data entry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications
• Ability to learn and use client tracking systems and other databases
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
• Ability to exercise good judgment and protect confidential information
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned work locations and work-related activities as needed

Preferred Qualifications

The following are highly desirable:

• Associate's degree
• Bilingual communication skills
• Previous experience in community services, social services, nonprofit services, human services, or a similar environment
• Experience assisting clients with applications, eligibility documentation, or supportive services
• Experience with client tracking, case management, or database software
• Experience handling a high volume of telephone calls
• Knowledge of community assistance or publicly funded service programs
• Experience with conflict resolution and assisting individuals with diverse needs and backgrounds

Physical & Work Requirements

This position may require the ability to:

• Remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.
• Move throughout office and community service locations.
• Use office equipment and computer systems throughout the day.
• Occasionally ascend or descend a ladder.
• Reach overhead and toward the floor.
• Move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds .
• Travel to and from assigned work locations.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, workshops, outreach events, and other work-related activities.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.

Work may take place in a variety of environments, including offices, workstations, community service areas, food pantry environments, training rooms, and other service locations.
