RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Three 12-hour shifts per week with flexibility required for scheduling
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation participation required
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 for stepdown patients and 1:5-6 for EMU patients
• Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EMU patients
• Experience with stroke patients and implementing NIH stroke scale required
• Strong neuroscience experience mandatory
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS (must have NIHSS in hand at time of submission), ACLS preferred
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Two-shift unit orientation provided
• Possible floating to other units: 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• Maximum of 2 shift cancellations per 13-week contract
• Manage common drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, and insulin per physician orders
• Work with telemetry monitoring (strips read by monitor techs)
• Collaborate with RT staff available 24/7 for ventilator management

This major academic medical center features the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute Inpatient Step Down Unit, a 31-bed specialized unit consisting of 25 stepdown beds and 6 EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) beds. The facility provides comprehensive neuroscience care with 24/7 charge nurse coverage, respiratory therapy support, and advanced monitoring capabilities. The unit specializes in caring for complex neurological conditions and maintains high standards for patient care with dedicated nursing assistants and modern medical equipment.
