We are seeking a Staff Tax Accountant to join our Springfield, MO office. This role supports client engagements by preparing accurate and timely federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth business owners across a variety of industries. The Staff Accountant will assist with tax planning, identify compliance issues, and ensure adherence to tax laws and firm standards. This individual will collaborate closely with Senior Accountants, Managers, and Partners to prepare and deliver returns, participate in client meetings, and contribute to exceptional client service and advisory support.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsAssist with tax planning strategies for high-net-worth business owners and related entitiesResearch tax issues and provide recommendations to leadershipReview client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose correctionsPrepare workpapers and schedules to support the review processMeet with clients to gather information, present findings, and deliver completed returnsMaintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with firm policiesMonitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returnsRespond to client inquiries in a professional and timely mannerCollaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needsCore CompetenciesStrong knowledge of tax laws and compliance standardsAnalytical mindset with attention to detailEffective client communication and relationship managementHighly organized with a focus on accuracy and deadlinesProblem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepanciesTeam-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functionsMaintains strict confidentiality of sensitive informationSupervisory ResponsibilitiesMay oversee and support InternsReports to Senior Accountants, Managers, or PartnersWork Environment & ExpectationsFull-time, salaried exempt positionStandard business hours with flexibilityOccasional extended hours (40+ per week), especially during peak periodsLocation & TravelSpringfield, MO (primarily office-based)QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's and CPA eligibility preferred1–3 years of tax preparation experience, ideally in public accountingProficiency in Microsoft Office requiredExperience with UltraTax, QuickBooks (Desktop & Online), and AdvanceFlow preferredAbility to pass a CJIS background checkPhysical & Position DemandsThis position requires regular communication, close vision, and the ability to focus on detailed financial information.
