We are in need of full-time and part-time Line Cooks for our store. We are looking for motivated, dedicated and passionate people to join our team. A successful candidate will have prior kitchen experience and be willing to learn.

Formal culinary training (school) is beneficial but not required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare sandwiches, paninis, soups, salads and a variety of pasta.
• Cook, mix and season ingredients to make dressings, fillings, and spreads.
• Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality of products served.
• Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
• Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
• Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, saut burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
• Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sauting or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.
• Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
• Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.

Requirements:

• Be able to interpret, understand and follow instructions.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

The store is primarily an Italian Grocery and Delicatessen, with a reputation for Italian and Specialty Foods that reaches from coast to coast. The store includes Milwaukee's #1 delicatessen, prepared fresh to go foods, catering, coffee service, bakery, cheese, wine, and spirits.
