Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our team. This position requires expertise in a fast-paced surgical environment, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse surgical team.

Shift Details

Shift Type: Nights
Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Scheduled Days: Sunday to Tuesday
No on-call required

Unit Information

Unit Type: Operating Room
Unit Composition: 9 Regular Beds, 1 Trauma Bed, 1 Urgent Bed
Average Cases per Day: 30
Technology Used: Cerner and Surginet

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting
BLS Certification required
Experience with robotics procedures and Level I Trauma
Ability to circulate and scrub; scrub RN experience is a significant advantage
Willingness to participate in rotating weekend and night shifts, including occasional on-call as needed

Orientation and Training

Floor-specific orientation is provided, lasting 1 week
Participants will undergo a pass/fail SIMs Lab evaluation on the first day of orientation, focusing on sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion, and maintaining a sterile field
Additional educational training will cover lifts, restraints, and wound care policies

Patient Care Focus

Responsibilities include caring for a variety of surgical patients with conditions such as:

General Surgery
Orthopedics
Robotic Surgery
Plastics
Trauma
ENT
Spine Surgery
Urology
Gynecology
Neonatal Surgeries
High-Risk C-Sections
Organ Donor Procurements
Hand and Eye Surgeries (rare cases)

Additional Notes

First-time travelers are welcome. Experience in trauma, orthopedic trauma, and general surgery is essential.
Candidates must understand sterile field practices to pass the SIMs Lab evaluation.
