Primary Function: The Mental Health Provider provides mental health support and clinical services to detainees housed in a Detention Facility. This role is essential in assessing, treating, and monitoring individuals with behavioral health needs, while ensuring compliance with National Detention Standards and federal regulations. The specialist works closely with medical, security, and case management teams to promote psychological well-being and safety within the facility.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct mental health screenings and comprehensive psychological assessments.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions as clinically indicated.
• Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to detainee needs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with HIPAA.
• Document progress notes, risk assessments, and treatment outcomes.
• Assist in preparing reports for officials and legal representatives when required.
• Respond to mental health emergencies and conduct suicide risk evaluations.
• Participate in suicide prevention protocols and multidisciplinary safety planning.
• Collaborate with custody staff to ensure appropriate housing and monitoring.
• Coordinate care with medical providers, case managers, and detention center personnel.
• Provide mental health education and training to facility staff.
• Advocate for detainee mental health needs within the detention environment.
