Welder (MIG & SAW)| $17–$20/hr | BlueWorx Location: Oklahoma City, OK Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Day Shift Pay: $17–$20/hr (DOE) BlueWorx is seeking a safety-focused Structural Steel Fitter to join a growing fabrication team supporting the production of pre-engineered metal building components and structural steel assemblies. This role is ideal for candidates with blueprint-reading experience and strong fitting skills in a structural steel environment. Candidates with MIG and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience and structural layout knowledge are strongly encouraged to apply. Position Overview The Structural Steel Fitter is responsible for interpreting prints, preparing materials, assembling steel components, and ensuring fabrication accuracy prior to final welding. This role supports production quality and efficiency while maintaining strict safety standards. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication diagrams Measure, cut, and fit structural steel components to specification Prepare materials and work surfaces for safe assembly Perform tack welding based on blueprint requirements Determine proper joint geometry and alignment Assist with MIG and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) processes as needed Perform first-article inspections Clean tack welds for inspection readiness Inspect assemblies to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy Load and offload workstations and materials as required Operate overhead cranes (after certification) Troubleshoot fit-up issues and report discrepancies to supervisors or QA Maintain clean and organized work areas Follow all Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and production tolerances Record labor and production activity accurately Support apprentices and assist with team training as needed Qualifications Experience fitting structural steel assemblies Proficiency reading and interpreting: Blueprints Schematics Work orders Experience using precision measuring tools Ability to perform shop math and layout measurements Basic computer skills Strong commitment to workplace safety Welding certifications are a plus (not required) Knowledge of OSHA safety practices preferred Ability to lift up to 75 lbs Ability to communicate effectively in English Preferred Experience Structural steel fabrication environment MIG welding experience Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) exposure Overhead crane operation Physical Requirements Standing for extended periods Repetitive lifting, positioning, and aligning materials Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout shift Ability to safely handle materials up to 75 lbs #J-18808-Ljbffr Blueworx
