Athletic Trainer The job of “Athletic Trainer/Teacher” provides on‑site athletic event coverage including pre‑ and post‑event requirements. Maintains appropriate quantities of first aid/athletic training supplies. Responsible for the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Required to collaborate with a licensed physician in the treatment of athletic injuries. Job Qualifications & Licensure Education: Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field such as Kinesiology or Sports Medicine. Valid athletic trainer registration by the Oregon Health Authority/Health Licensing Office. Emergency Cardiac Care Certification (adult, pediatric, secondary rescuer, AED, airway obstruction and barrier devices). Certified Wrestling Body Composition Assessor from the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA). Knowledge of first aid practices, injury prevention and therapeutic procedures. Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, coaches and physicians. Essential Job Functions Researches, plans, implements, and ensures appropriate action plans are in place to prevent athletic injury and illness in accordance with established policies and state law. Conducts initial assessment of an athlete’s injury or illness to determine diagnosis, activity limitations, develop a treatment plan, and when needed, refer to physician(s) for further diagnostic testing. Serves as a resource for coaches on conditioning, nutrition and selection of protective equipment. Attends multisport contests and practices as scheduled; observes athletes for movement patterns and injury risk; responds to injuries/illnesses. Provides emergency care and first aid, including equipment availability, communication procedures and triage. Serves as a liaison to parents, coaches, school staff and healthcare professionals regarding an athlete’s injury or illness. Provides education to coaches, students and parents about injury prevention and care. Develops, implements and maintains emergency action plans for practice and game locations. Provides on‑site rehabilitation using therapeutic interventions and equipment. Assesses athletes to evaluate treatment efficacy, reports progress to coaches and physicians, and modifies program as needed. Maintains confidential, accurate and complete documentation per law and policy. Develops and maintains equipment inventory within budget. Schedules and administers pre‑season neuropsychological testing for concussion management and interprets results. Manages concussion protocols, documentation and communication with medical professionals and parents. Assesses wrestler body composition in line with OSAA programs. Provides athletic training room facilities, rehabilitation and medical care access. Ensures hydration availability per league protocol. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
