Lab Technician - Senior Microbiology (Sterility Assurance)
Location: San Diego, CA 92130 | Pay Rate: $35/hr | Contract | M-F, 6:30am Start or Later

Join our leading Microbiology Lab as a Senior QC Technician, reporting directly to the Microbiology Lab Supervisor. You will play a vital role in sterility assurance, performing advanced microbiological testing and supporting quality control initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment. Responsibilities

- Execute sterility testing, including Sterility Dose Audits (SDA) and Bioburden testing, while maintaining rigorous sterile technique.
- Conduct Bacterial Endotoxins (LAL) testing and manage validations/revalidations.
- Prepare media, sterilize equipment, and perform quality checks to ensure testing accuracy.
- Monitor and record environmental conditions in laboratory and controlled areas.
- Gather, trend, and report key metrics from test data.
- Review and update Quality Management System (QMS) documents and procedures.
- Identify and proactively address compliance issues, ensuring alignment with ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and company standards.
- Collaborate with team members and management to resolve out-of-specification (OOS) events.
- Support training initiatives, mentoring new associates and contributing to knowledge transfer.
- Assist in new laboratory equipment design and implementation as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related scientific discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in sterility assurance testing within a microbiology laboratory.
- Expertise in bioburden, sterility dose audits, and LAL testing.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping and compliance skills.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and related standards.
- Team player with strong communication and a quick learning ability.

Preferred Skills

- Experience supporting training and onboarding of new lab personnel.
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring best practices.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to identify compliance gaps.
