About The Role:Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to be part of our Engineering team and based out of our Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel NJ location. The selected Software Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, testing, and integration of software solutions to support our customers. The main role of the Senior Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative, and performant software that complies with coding standards and technical design.Clearance & Location Requirements:All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 4 days in the office, based out of our Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ location.Key ResponsibilitiesWhat You Will Do: Scope and Define Requirements: Manage formal and informal requirements to define, validate and control scope to complete all the deliverables within a project successfullyDrive the conversion of customer requirements into a refined visionOversee and lead the development of user, functional, and technical requirements for software systemsEngineer Solutions: Design and implement solutions that meet specific requirements using state-of-the-art data structures, algorithms, patterns, and toolsLead the exploration and prototyping of next-generation solutionsDesign, implement, and test software using multiple languages and technology stacks Develop software interfaces to communicate across various network protocols and messaging frameworks Integrate software components into complex software environmentsAssure Quality: Maintains a focus on quality that produces deliverables that meet objectives and align needs, uses, and acceptance requirements set forth by relevant stakeholdersLead design and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers Develop software using secure coding practices Lead test and integration activities in IDT labs, as well as on-site customer labsManage Risk and Opportunities: Assess, plan, identify, analyze, mitigate and control risks and opportunitiesManage the preparation, tracking, and delivery of contractual deliverablesSkills, Knowledge & ExpertiseWho You Are (Required): Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, related field, or equivalent full-time professional experience.7-10+ years of relevant experience.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed.Proven experience mentoring and leading junior engineers.Expert understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.Expert understanding of object-oriented programming.Deep understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures and software design patternsAbility to identify and describe algorithmic complexityAbility to convert customer requirements into a refined visionExperience with software testing and configuration managementExperience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and driveExcellence in oral, written, and technical communication with peers and non-technical cohortsInitiative, creativity, reliability, teamworkWhat Makes You Stand Out: Experience as an AI EngineerExperience as a Generative AI EngineerExperience as a Data Pipeline EngineerExperience as a Platform EngineerExperience as a Cloud Engineer or ArchitectExperience as a Software Security or Cloud Security EngineerExpertise in developing software with one or more modern programming languages/frameworksExperience developing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) softwareExperience leading the integration and testing of complex software applicationsExperience with testing software and test automationExperience with relational databases and/or non-relational databasesExperience with containerized deployment technologiesExperience designing and developing APIsExperience with various network/messaging protocolsExperience with designing, developing, and maintaining application security controlsExperience working with version control softwareExperience developing web user interfaces with modern libraries/frameworksExperience using AI to accelerate software development activities and delivery to customersUnderstanding of basic network conceptsUnderstanding of basic virtualization conceptsIf you see yourself reflected in this role and are excited about the impact you could make, we encourage you to apply! The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
