YES- Park Accessibility Information Review (PAIR) Steward:
Stewards Individual Placements, a program of Conservation Legacy, provides individuals with AmeriCorps service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Stewards, in partnership with the Park Accessibility for Visitors and Employees (PAVE) program of the National Park System, are looking for individuals from the disability community to conduct Park Accessibility Information Reviews (PAIR) at various sites in National Park System. YES-PAIR Stewards will serve at various National Parks to visit areas of their park to record (through notes, pictures, and PAIR data-collection forms) the current accessibility features and conditions at the site. The information collected from YES-PAIR Stewards will be used to help various National Parks update their websites so that visitors with disabilities can do informed trip planning.

YES-PAIR Stewards will receive training on disability and accessibility and how it affects park visitation for individuals with disabilities. These Stewards will also receive hands-on training on how to complete PAIR reviews. After conducting PAIR reviews, YES-PAIR Stewards will prepare a report for their park regarding the park’s existing accessibility conditions and they will also assist the park in updating park’s accessibility page on their website.

These positions start the week of May 6th. All YES-PAIR members will travel to Fort Vancouver National Historic Site the week of May 13-17, 2024 for training; all travel and lodging for the training will be provided. Starting the week of May 20th, the following 10 weeks include completing PAIR reviews at your park site.

**Duties Include: **

• Conduct on-site reviews of accessibility conditions at multiple sites throughout their park

• Record accessibility conditions through note-taking, photographs, and data-collection forms

• Organize findings into a report for their park

• Based on information collected, update the park’s website to provide better/updated information on the park’s accessibility webpage

Required Skills

• Attend a mandatory training on how to conduct PAIR reviews. Training will be at Ft. Vancouver May 13 – 17, 2024; transportation and lodging will be provided

• Attend bi-weekly YES cohort meetings (online via Teams meetings) to collaborate with other YES interns, attend professional development presentations, and give a capstone presentation on your YES Internship project(s).

• To Be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

• To be between the ages of 18-30, or a Veteran up to the age of 35

• Have a personal connection with the disability community

• Adaptability and capacity to work in a fluid environment

• Ability to communicate and collaborate in a variety of settings

• Ability to have reliable transportation to work

• Basic computer skills

• Communication skills

• Drive to learn and experience new things!

Preferred Qualifications:

• Some college experience

• Preferred candidates have an interest in or experience with disability/accessibility either through personal experience, education, or other exposure
