Maintenance Mechanic 2

Job Description The Mechanic 2, who reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, maintains, repairs, and replaces various hospital equipment, operates standby equipment in case of plant systems failure, repairs mechanical and electrical failures, performs basic plumbing repairs, maintains required maintenance records, attends meetings and committees, and if a locksmith installs locks and door hardware, cuts keys, rekeys locks, and performs evening fire door checks in an effort toward promoting a safe and reliable environment for the provision of quality health care services. Responsibilities Preventative Maintenance & Repair Repairs lighting systems by replacing bulbs, ballasts, broken plugs, and switches to provide proper hospital lighting and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the provision of high-quality health care services. Maintains and repairs hospital air conditioning system by changing air filters and replacing and calibrating thermostats to ensure patient, visitor, and employee comfort. Operates standby equipment including boilers, cooling towers, and electrical lines in case of plant systems failure. Repairs steam lines, pumps, motors, and generators in a manner that promotes safety and conforms to hospital standards. Productivity Repairs or replaces television sets, nurse call systems, and other electrical equipment as requested in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains all required records and information pertinent to maintenance and repair costs with special attention given to the accuracy and details of reported information.
