IT Technician

Job Title

Working under general supervision, employee will perform a broad range of assignments required for systems support duties in either a service desk or an applications/desktop/field environment, to provide effective support for enterprise, client/server, desktop computer systems, network systems and business applications. Employee is expected to be proficient in performing a variety of routine and complex assignments. Incumbents at this level work alone on regular work assignments, checking with a supervisor on non- routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow.

Examples Of Duties, Knowledge, And Abilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Sets up/installs new user systems; configures desktop computers and monitors; connects computers to peripheral equipment; loads software.
• Creation of Active Directory account and setting permissions including file/folder access, and creating user accounts for specific systems.
• Adheres to security procedures.
• Performs back-up, recovery and systems monitoring in addition to installations, upgrades and/or other hardware/software support activities; analyzes and recovers system when malfunction occurs.
• Monitors hardware and software on LAN/WAN systems; monitors jobs using a computer terminal or personal computer (PC).
• Performs minor repairs on computers and peripheral equipment; coordinates more difficult repairs, or mandated contractual repairs with vendors; coordinates and schedules work with vendor service providers.
• Provides informal training on equipment.
• Builds and maintains positive and professional working relationships with co-workers, other employees, vendors, and the public using principles of good customer service. Performs related duties as assigned.
