JOB TITLE: Production Manager

Reports To: Director, Operations FLSA Status: Full-Time: Salaried, Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the technical and creative elements of corporate live events. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams, managing workflows, event documentation, budgets, timelines, and on-site crews. Production Managers collaborate closely with Sales, Creative, Warehouse, and Operations to deliver events that meet client expectations while supporting brand, budget, and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include, but are not limited to…) Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as the main point of contact for assigned clients throughout the event lifecycle.
• Lead or participate in client meetings, internal planning sessions, and calls to accurately capture event details.
• Conduct site visits and venue walkthroughs as required.

Event Planning & Workflow Management

• Manage all technical, creative, design, and scripting components of the event from pre-production through load-out.
• Organize and maintain workflows to align with client requirements, deadlines, and production needs.
• Develop and maintain event timelines to ensure planning stays on schedule.
• Translate client goals and requirements into actionable production plans, collaborating with the VP of Productions when strategic or financial decisions are required.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight

• Create, manage, and maintain event budgets, including cost estimating and margin tracking.
• Track and update orders to ensure accuracy from planning through invoicing.
• Source sub-rentals when required and coordinate logistics for pickups, deliveries, and returns.

Technical Coordination & Documentation

• Work with Warehouse Staff to confirm availability of required assets and identify alternates when necessary.
• Collaborate with Account Executives and Operations Managers to assign technicians to appropriate event roles.
• Maintain an understanding of technical aspects across General Sessions, Plenaries, Breakouts, Exhibits, and related event environments.
• Coordinate with Creative Team to obtain, organize, and deliver graphic content for layout and playback.
• Work with venue staff and CAD technicians to obtain or produce room diagrams and ensure compliance with fire code.

On-Site Leadership

• Lead on-site execution of events, managing technicians, stagehands, and vendors.
• Provide direction to Lead Technicians and maintain situational awareness across all event areas.
• Uphold company standards for professionalism, communication, and safety on show site.

Team Support & Development

• Provide guidance to technicians and stage crew during show prep, onsite deployment, and strike.
• Support a positive team culture that emphasizes communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.

S PECIAL CHARACTERISTICS/KNOWLEDGE:

• Must be organized, attentive to detail, persistent, and demonstrate the ability to follow through projects to completion.
• Capable of handling multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
• Capable of working with all levels of show management under minimal supervision.
• Ability to run events from concept and implementation, to live show and load out.
• Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office, and scheduling and rental software.
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Understanding of quality standards and basic health and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of budgeting concepts and reporting on key production metrics.
• Knowledge of performance evaluation concepts and standards.
• Strong decision-making skills, results driven.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

• The duties of this position are performed indoors in an office and/or warehouse environment and outdoors as necessary and required by certain events. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during move-in days and event days.

Travel & Schedule

• Ability to travel based on project requirements; extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience

• 7 years industry experience

Education / Training

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Applied Science in Live Sound and Show Production, or a closely related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• General education requirements in the areas of communication, social science, natural science and humanities provide analytical and communication skills as well as a global perspective of diverse cultures.
• Certifications such as CTS/CTS-I, OSHA 10/30, and/or PMP are a plus.
