Location: On-site in the Midwest (Relocation available)

Our client is seeking an accomplished Maintenance Reliability Engineer to help strengthen equipment performance across a network of large industrial operations. This is a high visibility opportunity for an engineer who wants to take proven reliability practices beyond a single plant and create measurable impact across multiple facilities. The role combines deep engineering problem solving with the ability to build trust, influence plant teams, and turn complex equipment challenges into solutions that people will actually adopt.

While the position is advertised nationally, the selected candidate will be based at an operating facility in the Midwest, with potential locations across Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. Regular travel between facilities is expected, generally around 30 percent.

Focus:

• Partner directly with plant teams to uncover recurring equipment problems and develop practical engineering solutions that improve uptime and long term performance.
• Lead reliability improvement efforts across multiple facilities, helping successful approaches move from individual plants into broader regional applications.
• Investigate significant equipment failures by combining field observations, maintenance information, engineering fundamentals, and structured root cause analysis.
• Strengthen preventive, predictive, and reliability centered maintenance strategies based on equipment behavior, operating conditions, failure patterns, and business priorities.
• Enter unfamiliar operating environments, listen to local teams, understand their challenges, and build the technical case needed to gain support for reliability improvements.
• Evaluate difficult equipment issues using engineering drawings, calculations, technical documentation, operating data, and hands on troubleshooting knowledge.
• Help site and regional teams strengthen their reliability capabilities by sharing technical expertise, coaching practitioners, and promoting disciplined problem solving.
• Balance immediate equipment concerns with longer range reliability initiatives that can improve maintenance effectiveness and asset performance across the organization.

Skill Set:

• Approximately 8 to 10 or more years of progressive industrial maintenance and reliability engineering experience, including meaningful responsibility for reliability centered maintenance.
• Engineering focused degree or comparable technical education required. Mechanical, electrical, industrial, and other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered.
• Demonstrated multi-site experience is required, either through a regional or corporate reliability position or through major engineering and reliability initiatives deployed across several facilities.
• Strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to interpret drawings, perform technical calculations, diagnose equipment failures, determine root causes, and develop engineered solutions.
• Proven ability to influence without direct authority, including establishing credibility with plant personnel, presenting technical recommendations, communicating business benefits, and gaining stakeholder support.
• Experience in heavy industrial or process intensive operations such as agricultural processing, steel, aggregates, mining, oil and gas, cement, heavy manufacturing, or comparable environments.
• Working knowledge of established reliability engineering practices and analytical approaches, including reliability centered maintenance, failure analysis, equipment criticality, preventive maintenance optimization, and related methodologies.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to move comfortably between detailed technical discussions and conversations with operational and business leaders.
