Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric ICU

Position Overview

A Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, critical environment. This role requires a strong clinical skill set, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to patient rights and confidentiality.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care activities including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with other departments to optimize patient outcomes.
• Utilize the nursing process to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided to patients.
• Maintain professional accountability for provision of patient care, respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
• Support and enhance patient comfort through efficient care coordination.

Qualifications

• Required Licensure: Current RN License in the state of Missouri or eligibility for licensure.
• Required Certifications: BLS, PALS (from AHA only).
• Preferred Certifications: TNCC.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Pediatric ICU; must be ventilator competent with at least 1 year of post-orientation experience.

• Number of Beds: 12
• Patient Ratios: ICU status 2:1, Intubated 1:1, Pediatric status 3:1
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lifting and moving patients may be required.
• Must be able to push and pull patients in stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 lbs and pinching up to 15 lbs.

Additional Information

This role requires night shifts with initial orientation on a day shift schedule. The candidate should be prepared to work in various pediatric departments based on patient volume, including NICU, PICU, pediatric medical floor, or pediatric emergency department.
