Traveling Handyman

Daniels Health is seeking a versatile Travelling Handyman to support facility and plant operations across a growing multi-site footprint. This role handles a wide range of general building maintenance and light repair work, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and fixture work, needed to keep Daniels Health locations safe, clean, and fully operational.

The Travelling Handyman also supports capital construction and equipment installation projects, including Autoclaves, Wash lines, Compactors, and boiler rooms, led by the General Contractor, handling site preparation, punch-list, and finish work alongside licensed trades. This is a full-time, W2 position requiring travel to project sites approximately 50% of the time, with flexibility to support day shift and, where needed, 2nd shift coverage.

General Maintenance & Repair

• Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including drywall patching, painting, doors, locks, hardware, ceiling tiles, flooring, and fixtures across Daniels Health facilities.
• Complete minor electrical tasks (replacing lights, switches, and outlets) and minor plumbing tasks (faucets, toilets, drains, and fixtures) within the limits of applicable licensing rules.
• Assemble, install, and repair furniture, shelving, signage, safety equipment, and wall-mounted items.
• Carry out preventative maintenance checklists and respond to work orders that affect plant uptime, safety, or building operations.

Capital Project & Installation Support

• Support site preparation, demolition, cleanup, and punch-list work for Autoclave, Wash line, Compactor, and boiler room projects.
• Work alongside the General Contractor, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and subcontractors to keep project scopes on schedule.
• Read basic drawings, work orders, and equipment specifications to guide assigned tasks.
• Stage materials, tools, and equipment so trades can work efficiently on site.

Multi-Site Travel & Coverage

• Travel to multiple sites (approximately 50%) across assigned regions: Midwest, East Coast, Florida, and Texas, with priority coverage in California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia to complete repairs and support maintenance and installation projects.
• Maintain flexibility to support day shift and, where needed, 2nd shift coverage based on site needs.
• Transport, maintain, and account for tools, materials, and equipment between job sites.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Plant Managers, the General Contractor, and maintenance stakeholders to prioritize repairs and improve facility condition.
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Infrastructure, Plant Manager, and General Contractor on job progress, material needs, and site conditions.
• Identify issues that require a licensed electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician and escalate them promptly.
• Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing facility operations during repair and maintenance work.

Safety & Compliance

• Complete all work in compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and internal safety standards.
• Follow lockout/tagout, ladder, fall-protection, and safe power-tool procedures, whether working independently or alongside subcontractors.
• Stay within the scope permitted for unlicensed work in each state and refer licensed-trade work to the appropriate professional.

• 3+ years of general maintenance or handyman experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or multi-site facilities environments.
• Working skills across multiple trades, including minor carpentry, drywall, painting, basic electrical, and basic plumbing.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with capital construction or equipment installation projects (e.g., autoclaves, wash lines, compactors, boiler rooms) preferred.
• Ability to read work orders, basic drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong practical judgment and a solution-focused approach.
• Ability to travel up to 50% consistently, including priority regions (CA, TX, FL, GA).
• Flexibility to support day shift and, where needed, 2nd shift coverage.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade-school or vocational training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to travel by air and ground.
• Ability to pass background check/drug screening as required.
• OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification required.
• EPA 608 certification, aerial/scissor lift, or forklift training a plus.
• State or local handyman registration where required by jurisdiction.
