Director, Senior Water Resources Engineer

In this position, you will design and analyze engineering projects, manage tasks, cultivate client relationships, and develop new business opportunities. Much of the work will be within Florida and focused on natural systems restoration, stormwater treatment, stream restoration, and resiliency-focused projects.Work on cutting-edge resilience and natural systems design projects such as vulnerability assessments and stream restoration projects with major clients within the Tampa Bay Region.Your ImpactSupport and lead business development activities such as client engagement, relationship building, opportunity identification, team formation, proposal preparation, presentations, and successful project capture and executionServe as a trusted advisor to clients, aligning engineering solutions with regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and long-term resilience strategiesProvide proactive and strategic leadership for the civil engineering discipline and function, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work site deliverables are successfully achievedPerform engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, integrated management plans, and periodic construction inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and sound engineering practicesLead civil engineering projects ensuring contributors understand technical requirements, client expectations, and delivery timelines, while managing budgets, tracking financial performance, monitoring external factors, and supervising subcontractors and staffIdentify and assess risks in design quality and implementation while supporting continuous improvement and enhancing client satisfaction and project outcomesMentor Project Managers and Staff Engineers, fostering both technical excellence and client engagement skillsDrive restoration, resiliency, water resource and project designsDevelop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics, while supporting profitable growth and client retentionProvide verbal and written input to multidisciplinary teams and contribute to delivering high-level, strategic advice to clientsCollaborate with professionals across disciplines to deliver integrated, client-centered and future-ready solutionsExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conductMentor early- and mid-career engineers and scientists, supporting professional growth and exposure to client-facing responsibilitiesCoordinate and participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors and assist in drafting complex professional service agreementsDeliver high-quality products to clients on schedule, ensuring alignment with client goals and expectationsConduct both field and office tasks associated with water-resources projectsGuide CAD modeling, GIS, and other relevant software technologiesPrepare calculations, designs, and recommendations for water-resources projectsAuthor construction bid documents, technical reports, permit applications, and proposals that support both project delivery and business development effortsManage and lead projects in a team environment while maintaining strong client relationships and communicationActively support and contribute to marketing efforts, proposal development, and client outreach initiativesCommit to WSP’s safety programWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in environmental, agricultural, or civil engineering10+ years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineeringExperience in consulting practiceRegistered Professional Engineer in Florida; or ability to obtain within three monthsProject manager experience with demonstrated ability to balance technical delivery and client engagementSkilled communicator (oral and written) with ability to interface directly with clients and stakeholdersTravel as necessary; primarily within FloridaPosition based in Tampa, FLProficiency in MS Office SuiteStrong communication skills; proven ability to prepare reports, proposals, and client-facing deliverablesSafe driving record in accordance with company policyPreferred Qualifications:Graduate degree in engineeringKnowledge of Florida hydrology and water-resources issuesEstablished client relationships and project experience in FloridaRelationships with Florida’s water management districtsExperience with water models such as ICPR/StreamWise, HEC-RAS, SWMMAbout WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
