We are seeking an experienced Community Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of an affordable housing community in Los Angeles, California. This position is with a nonprofit organization and is ideal for a professional who can balance resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and property performance. The role requires strong oversight of property operations, affordable housing programs, resident relations, and financial performance while maintaining a safe, well-managed community.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of an affordable housing community, ensuring compliance with company policies and community standards.
• Supervise onsite staff, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
• Oversee rent collection, occupancy levels, resident retention, and delinquency management to achieve property goals.
• Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations, including Tax Credit, HUD, LAHD, HCD, CDLAC, Fair Housing, and other applicable requirements.
• Coordinate resident certifications, annual recertifications, move-ins, move-outs, waitlists, and leasing documentation.
• Review property financial performance, monitor budgets, approve expenditures, and address variances as needed.
• Partner with maintenance staff to ensure units, common areas, and grounds are well maintained and meet company standards.
• Prepare for and support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews while resolving findings in a timely manner.
• Respond to resident concerns, accommodation requests, and community issues with professionalism and urgency.
• Maintain strong relationships with residents, vendors, internal departments, and regional leadership to support successful property operations.
• Monitor occupancy, compliance reporting, and operational deadlines while driving overall community performance.
• Participate in after-hours emergency response and travel to other properties within the portfolio as needed.

Requirements of the Position

• Minimum of 2 years of multifamily residential property management experience.
• Experience working within affordable housing programs, including Tax Credit, HUD, LAHD, HCD, and CDLAC regulations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and property management compliance requirements.
• Proven experience overseeing rent collection, occupancy, resident relations, recertifications, audits, and property inspections.
• Demonstrated leadership experience supervising onsite staff, including training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Boston Post/MRI or other property management software preferred.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, expense management, and property performance metrics.
• Ability to manage waitlists, leasing processes, move-ins, move-outs, annual recertifications, and compliance documentation.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with residents, vendors, coworkers, and community partners.
• Experience preparing for and supporting affordable housing audits, compliance reviews, and physical inspections.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and take a proactive approach to property management.
• Ability to travel between properties as needed and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional property management certifications are a plus.
