Police Crisis Intervention Specialist

Overview The Police Crisis Intervention Specialist (PCIS) provides professional mobile crisis intervention, evaluation/assessment, and referral services for the Scottsdale Police Department, working 40 hours per week plus rotating on‑call for 24‑hour response. Responsibilities Respond in person and by telephone to police officer requests for psychological, sociological, and victim services. Perform intervention and assessment services including domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health emergencies, child maltreatment, and runaway situations. Relocate victims of domestic violence or other life‑altering situations. Respond to private citizens, schools, and social service agencies requests for assistance. Refer and occasionally provide transportation to local treatment and other appropriate locations. Work on a 24‑hour basis in a variety of stressful and emotional situations. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or closely related field from an accredited institution. Three years of professional experience in crisis intervention, counseling, or social work (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensing & Certifications Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with no major citations in past 39 months. Must reside in Arizona during active employment. Physical Demands Work in stressful emotional situations 24‑hour basis. Respond to diverse locations (jail, residences, businesses, streets, schools). Occasional transportation of clients. Exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes. Lift and carry materials up to 40 pounds, assist infirmed individuals and children. Operate city vehicle and radio equipment.
