Purpose Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum. Compensation / Pay Range $44,500 (negotiable based on experience). Essential Functions Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with NYS curriculum and district goals for equity. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including those receiving special education services. Conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Instructs students in principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn current developments in education. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate record-keeping per district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental/guardian involvement and ensures effective communication with students and families. Ensures student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies. Coordinates with other staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment and maintains inventory records. Supervises students during off‑classroom activities, including school transportation. Administers standardized tests per district testing programs. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and differentiation based on student learning styles. Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts. Knowledge of Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education (CRSE). Knowledge and ability to engage culturally and ethnically diverse students and families. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation. Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents/guardians. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation and reflection regarding performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Qualifications Profile Certification/License: NYS Certification in Mathematics. Education: Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for appropriate grade levels is a plus. Experience working with a culturally and ethnically diverse population is strongly desired. Demands, Hazards: Works in standard office and school building environments. Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
