Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Mission Support Division, Human Capital Management, Programs Branch located in Washington D.C. Responsibilities The purpose of the position is to serve as a Branch Chief, a supervisor over a team of Management Program Analysts and Mission Support Specialists who are engaged in managing critical programs such as Financial Management, Human Capital and Training, Technology Management, Contract Management, and Logistics Operations for which the scope and effect of the work have an agency-wide impact. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10) GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. The Major Duties for this position are listed below but not limited to: Directing and overseeing a branch within the Mission Support Division responsible for managing key administrative programs impacting the Office of Professional Responsibility. Planning, developing, and coordinating special studies, briefings, and presentations for executive management to support organizational objectives. Evaluating and implementing policies and procedures in assigned program areas to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Supervising and managing a team of Management and Program Analysts, including assigning work, setting priorities, and conducting performance appraisals. Reviewing and analyzing program operations, resource requirements, and long-range plans to recommend improvements and ensure alignment with mission goals. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Directing and overseeing the Human Capital Programs Branch responsible for managing critical administrative programs with organizational-wide impact. Developing, evaluating, and implementing policies and procedures to improve program effectiveness and achieve organizational objectives. Providing expert analytical support and technical assistance to executive managers and staff on planning methodologies and management programs. Exercising supervisory responsibilities over professional staff, including assigning work, setting priorities, and evaluating performance at the GS-12 and GS-13 levels. Coordinating and integrating major work assignments and projects requiring advanced analytical, interpretive, and evaluative skills at the GS-13 level. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/19/2026. Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment. Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 3 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
