Licensed Practical Nurse – SCI Coal Township Salary: $67,558.00–$84,332.00 Annually Location: Northumberland County, PA – 1 Kelley Drive, Coal Township, PA 17866 Job Type: Civil Service Permanent Full-Time Job Summary Join the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a Licensed Practical Nurse and bring your skills to a team that values quality care. Responsibilities Clinical Support – Perform nursing tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, and supporting activities of daily living Medication Administration – Prepare and administer prescribed medications and record all related actions accurately Emergency Response – Provide first aid, CPR, or AED support during medical emergencies as appropriate Health Documentation – Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare reports needed for care continuity Care Coordination – Communicate important information to nursing, custody, and administrative staff to support safe operations Supply Management – Sterilize equipment and maintain proper inventory levels for treatment areas Full‑time employment. The Department of Corrections staffs three shifts covering 24/7: 1st shift 6:00 am‑2:30 pm; 2nd shift 2:00 pm‑10:30 pm; 3rd shift 10:00 pm‑6:30 am. Work hours to be determined; alternative schedules may be available. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. No telework option. Newly admitted candidates begin at the starting salary of $67,558 before taxes. Qualifications & Requirements Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania. Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year. PA residency requirement currently waived. Within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, eligible to apply. At appointment, must show proof of PA temporary practice permit or Licensed Practical Nurse license. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA required. Must be able to perform essential job functions. Must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.
