PositionSummary TheStructuralDetailerproducestheshop-readymodelsandfabricationdrawingsforthesteelthatcarriesDSI'smodularmechanicalassemblies—skidframes,equipmentstands,piperacks,seismicsupports,liftinglugs,andtransportstructures.Thisisnotgenericbuildingsteeldetailing.Everyframeproducedherehastoacceptmechanicalequipmentatexactlocations,surviveover-the-roadtransportandrigging,andhitafabricationtolerancetheshopcanactuallyhold.Thedetaileristhebridgebetweentheengineer'sdesignintentandwhatthefitterreadsatthestation. KeyResponsibilities Modeling&Detailing Buildaccurate3Dstructuralmodelsofmoduleframes,skids,racks,stands,andsupportsteelfromengineeringdrawings,sketches,anddesigncriteria. Producecompletefabricationdeliverables:assemblydrawings,single-partdrawings,erection/setdrawings,weldmaps,boltlists,andbillsofmaterial. Detailconnectionsperengineereddesign—weldedandbolted,includingweldsymbols,sizes,prep,andaccess. Modelanddetailliftinglugs,pickpoints,transporttie-downprovisions,andshippingbracing. GenerateCNC/NCfilesforthedrillline,saw,andplasma/laserasapplicable. Coordination Coordinatestructuralsteelagainstmechanical,piping,andelectricalcontentinthemodule;participateinclashdetectionandresolveinterferencesbeforerelease. Verifyequipmentmountingpatterns,anchorboltlayouts,andinterfacedimensionsagainstapprovedvendorsubmittals—notagainstpreliminarycutsheets. Coordinatemodule-to-buildinginterfaces,baseconnections,andfieldtie-intoleranceswithprojectteamsandtheGC. WorkinAutodeskConstructionCloudformodelexchange,issuetracking,RFIs,anddrawingdistribution. Quality&ShopSupport Checkownworkbeforesubmitting;participateinpeercheckingandincorporatechecker/engineercomments. Maintainmaterialtraceability,gradecallouts,andfinish/coatingrequirementsonalldeliverables. Answershopfloorquestionsduringfabrication;issueclear,trackedrevisionswithoutstallingtheline. Updatemodelstoas-builtconditionandsupportturnoverdocumentation. Standards WorkwithinDSI'sdetailingstandards,templates,connectionlibraries,andnamingconventions—andhelpimprovethem. Buildreusablefamilies,components,andstandarddetailsthatshortenthenextjob. RequiredQualifications Minimum4yearsofstructuralsteeldetailingexperienceproducingshopfabricationdrawings. ProficiencyinTeklaStructuresand/orSDS/2;workingabilityinAutoCAD. CommandofAISCdetailingconventionsandAWSD1.1weldsymbols,jointtypes,andpreprequirements. Abilitytoreadandinterpretstructuralengineeringdrawings,specifications,andvendorsubmittals. Understandingofsteelshapes,grades,plate,tube,andstandardmill/fabricationtolerances. Strongdimensionalaccuracyandself-checkingdiscipline—thisrole'serrorsgetwelded. PreferredQualifications Modular,skid,oroff-sitefabricationdetailingexperience;industrialorprocessplantsteel. NISD(NationalInstituteofSteelDetailing)detailercertification. Revitproficiencyandexperienceworkingincoordinatedmulti-disciplineMEPmodels. Navisworksclashdetectionexperience. AutodeskConstructionCloudexperience. Mission-critical/datacenterprojectexperience. Shopfloororwelding/fittingbackground. Associatedegreeortechnicalcertificateindrafting,CAD,orengineeringtechnology. Competencies Buildableoverpretty.Detailswhatthefittercanaccess,weld,andinspect. Precisionbyhabit.Checksbeforesending;doesn'trelyonthecheckertocatchit. Asksearly.Raisestheconflictatmodelstage,notatfabrication. Shop-fluent.Comfortablewalkingtothefloorandtalkingthroughadetailwiththewelder. Physical&WorkEnvironment Primarilyoffice/workstation-basedwithregulartimeonthefabricationfloor.Occasionalsitevisits.Extendedcomputerwork;occasionalstanding,walking,andclimbinginshopandfieldenvironments.PPErequiredwhenonthefloor.
