Project Support Analyst

The Conservancy works with others on multi-benefit projects located along the coast of California, within coastal watersheds, and/or within the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. The new Project Support Analysts will assist with disbursing state funding and managing projects to acquire and protect natural and agricultural lands, restore and enhance habitats and ecosystems, design and build trails and other recreational facilities, plan and implement climate adaptation projects, implement urban greening projects, provide environmental education, and improve public access for historically underserved communities. Tasks will include soliciting and reviewing grant applications, reviewing documents related to projects, writing and presenting staff recommendations for Conservancy Board approval, developing grant agreements in cooperation with legal staff, ensuring that all conditions of the grant agreement are met, reviewing invoices, and monitoring the progress of projects. The new staff members will be part of regional teams at the Conservancy, and will work with grantees, partner agencies, organizations, tribes, and community groups.

The State Coastal Conservancy is headquartered in Oakland, CA. We currently have four positions open. One position is within the Central Coast Program (with focus on San Mateo County), one within the North Coast Program, one within the San Francisco Bay Area Program, and the fourth position is within the South Coast Program.

Three of the positions will be based in our Oakland home office (Alameda County). The third position may be located in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, or Ventura counties. Candidates on the Staff Serves Analyst list who have a BA or BS are eligible for Range C, salary range $4,476 $5,604 per month. If you are new to state employment you will start at the minimum of the salary range.

This position is a remote position from San Diego County. The incumbent would work from their home in San Diego County. Remote staff will be required to travel to our headquarters in Oakland, CA once per month. The travel costs are paid for at the State rate by the State Coastal Conservancy.

Working Conditions

• Monday through Friday. This is a permanent remote position. The incumbent would work from their home in San Diego County.
• Indoor work is standard and will require working on a computer up to eight hours per day; work may require repetitive movements in the performance of daily duties.
• Outdoor work is occasionally necessary; work environment may involve a range of climatic and physical conditions such as exposure to rain, heat, cold, fumes, dust, air contaminants, stinging insects, poison oak, and rattlesnakes.
• May require working in occasional confrontational situations with project partners, grantees, or members of the public.
• Expected to multitask, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities in a cooperative manner.
• Expected to attend and participate in meetings with staff of other agencies, and grantees.
• Travel to meetings and project sites may be required during project development, management, and/or monitoring; work may involve dealing with a range of traffic conditions.
