Part-Time Registered OpticianThe School of Optometry is looking for a part-time registered optician to provide high-quality training and education for students in the School of Optometry's optical shop, 10 Optical. This is a part-time position scheduled to work 27 hours per week, with onsite requirements.Responsibilities:Provides appropriate patient education regarding lens and frame optionsEnsures the timely processing of daily patient ordersCompletes verification of insurance or vision care coverage for optical products and servicesOversees the collection of patient payments, the submission of accurate billing information, and the posting of charges and payments in the systemAssists with activities of student interns when neededAssists with instruction of laboratory functions including, use of edging equipmentKeeps current details on vision care plans and other third-party payersHelps with inventory management and controlUse of edging equipmentRequired:Current Massachusetts Dispensing Optician LicenseMinimum of 3 years' experience in Optical management required. Supervisory experiencePrior experience with third-party payers and vision care plans (VSP, Eyemed, Spectera, MassHealth).Experience with electronic health records, inventory management systems, and ordering platforms.Excellent customer service abilities.Teaching and/or training experience is preferred.Able to sustain a flexible work schedule – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (standard hours). May be asked to cover 10 Optical when manager is on vacation or away from campus.Physical Requirements:Typical office or administrative working conditions. Staff is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is primarily sedentary in nature; there are no special physical demands.Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
