Physical Therapist

Location: New York, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking an entry-level Physical Therapist to join a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The position provides opportunities to work across inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient therapy services.

Must have inpatient rehabilitation experience. Occasional weekend coverage may be required. When weekend coverage is scheduled, a weekday off will be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient examinations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Establish appropriate goals and implement physical therapy interventions.
• Conduct timely re-examinations and modify treatment goals and interventions as needed.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare disciplines.
• Complete all required documentation, including:
  • Initial evaluations
  • Progress notes
  • Monthly summaries
  • Discharge summaries
• Provide education and training to patients, families, care partners, and personnel as appropriate.
• Recommend appropriate durable medical equipment in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
• Prepare letters of medical necessity when required.
• Participate in discharge planning and recommend continued physical therapy services when appropriate.
• Develop and provide home exercise programs.
• Attend conferences, patient rounds, in-services, clinics, and departmental meetings as assigned.
• Accept additional patient assignments when coverage is required based on staffing needs.
• Maintain therapy attendance records, patient charges, and statistical reports.
• Participate in the supervision and training of Rehab Patient Care Associates, volunteers, and students.
• Maintain professional membership with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and professional practice standards.

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State Physical Therapist license.
• Inpatient rehabilitation experience required.
• 0–1 year of professional experience preferred for this entry-level position.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
