Learn more at compassus.com.About the OpportunityUnder the direction of the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, the Associate General Counsel, Regulatory provides strategic legal counsel and regulatory guidance across the organization. This role serves as the Company's subject matter expert on healthcare regulatory compliance, licensing, accreditation, and reimbursement requirements, partnering closely with executive, operational, clinical, and compliance leaders to mitigate risk while supporting high-quality patient care and business operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Stakeholder EngagementResponsible for, and engages all Company stakeholders in, the Company's 6 Pillars of Success (Regulatory Compliance, Colleagues, Quality, Service, Growth, and Financial Responsibility).Advises corporate, operational, and clinical leaders on regulatory compliance issues affecting patient care, reimbursement, and business operations.Partners with Compliance, Clinical Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Government Affairs to proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks.Legal Expertise and Healthcare RegulationServes as the primary legal advisor on federal and state healthcare laws and regulations impacting the organization.Interprets and advises leadership on healthcare regulatory requirements, including:Medicare Conditions of ParticipationAnti-Kickback StatuteStark LawHIPAA/HITECHFraud, Waste and Abuse lawsState licensing regulationsLeads the Company's licensing and Certificate of Need (CON) strategy and processes.Assists Compliance with investigations and auditsAssists with Government and Regulatory AffairsRegulatory Risk Management and MonitoringSupports regulatory due diligence for strategic initiatives and organizational changes.Monitors changes in federal and state regulations and develops legal guidance for implementation.Provides legal support during governmental audits, investigations, surveys, and regulatory inquiries.Policy Development and Educational OutreachDevelops policies, guidance documents, and educational materials related to healthcare regulations.Reviews agreements and operational initiatives for regulatory compliance.Miscellaneous DutiesPerforms other duties as assignedAbout the Best CandidatesDemonstrates high integrity.Strong project management and process improvement skills.Strong leadership and people management skills.Ability to solve problems multi-dimensionally.Leads by example.Deep understanding of key stakeholders of the Company, including patients, families, colleagues, governmental and regulatory agencies, payors and shareholders.Ability to mitigate risk pragmatically and exercise reasonable judgment.Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses.Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality.Key Job Requirements and PreferencesEducationRequired: Possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law schoolExperienceRequired: at least 6-8 years of legal and professional healthcare experience.Relevant experience, and demonstrated success, in a law firm and/or corporate setting; additional publicLicenses/CertificationsRequired: Requires admittance to a state bar.Work Environment and Physical RequirementsPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking while working at a computer conducting meetings, or performing administrative duties.Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of up to 20 pounds, including luggage, presentation materials, and office equipment.Ability to navigate healthcare environments, including patient care settings, offices, and community locations, which may involve stair climbing, bending, reaching, and extended periods of walking.Visual acuity sufficient for reviewing reports, analyzing data, and operating standard office technology.CommunicationEffective communication skills in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms.What We OfferWe offer a highly competitive compensation package with an attractive base salary, short- and long-term incentive programs, and competitive benefits.
