Registered Nurse - Stroke Telemetry Unit

Schedule

This is a 12-hour shift position, working from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM.

Job Description

The Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. The unit is designed to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond to changes in real time.
• Ensure compliance with stroke core measures, such as dysphagia screening, education, and care plans.
• Administer medications using BCMA standards with a focus on safety and accuracy.
• Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, including providers, therapy, and case management.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment.
• Maintain a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current state nursing license.
• ACLS, BLS, NIH certification.
• Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arrival.
