About This Role

The assistant teacher is responsible for assisting the lead teacher in managing the classroom environment at Christ Church School, which teaches and inspires over 200 children ages six weeks through Kindergarten. He or she will promote a loving, nurturing, and inclusive Christian community through daily interactions with staff and families while teaching lessons that meet the children’s academic, emotional, social and spiritual needs. We are currently hiring assistant teachers for parti-time, afternoon shifts. Available positions range from 10 hours a week up to 25 hours a week.

• Assist with developmentally appropriate lessons in daily classes
• Create a comfortable and secure environment by setting clear limits, establishing routines and structure
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to define the assistant’s roles and expectations in the classroom
• Assist in meeting the age-appropriate needs of the children in the classroom (feeding, diapering, toileting, etc)
• Assume the duties of the Lead Teacher in the absence of the Lead
• Model and encourage positive social skills
• Participate in staff training and complete state required professional development
• Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and attitude

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in early childhood education or a related setting
• Other relevant experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate stairs
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
