Human Resources Manager | Food Manufacturing Location: Western Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift Work Arrangement: 100% onsite Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire Compensation: $85,000 to $90,000 annually, with potential flexibility based on experience Bonus: Potential quarterly bonus of up to approximately $1,500 Position Overview Tree Top Staffing is partnering with a rapidly growing food manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Human Resources Manager for a newly created leadership position. The Human Resources Manager will serve as a strategic partner to leadership and a trusted resource for managers and employees across multiple nearby manufacturing facilities. This highly visible, hands-on role combines employee relations, HR compliance, performance management, workforce planning, recruiting, employee engagement, and operational support. The Human Resources Manager will oversee one direct report and collaborate with an established team of approximately six to seven HR professionals. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing HR experience, sound judgment, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to build credibility with employees and leaders at every level of the organization. This is not a traditional desk-based HR position. The successful candidate will maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor, support managers and employees directly, and help strengthen HR programs and processes as the organization continues to grow. Key Responsibilities Serve as a trusted HR advisor to managers, supervisors, and employees across multiple manufacturing facilities Lead employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, corrective action plans, conflict resolution, performance concerns, and terminations Ensure employee concerns are addressed promptly, consistently, professionally, and confidentially Coach managers on employee performance, attendance, communication, workforce planning, leadership, and other people-related challenges Help ensure company policies and employment practices are applied consistently across departments, facilities, and shifts Provide guidance regarding FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, wage and hour requirements, workplace accommodations, and other employment matters Maintain accurate HR documentation to support audits, regulatory requirements, investigations, and internal reviews Identify potential compliance concerns and partner with leadership to address them proactively Guide managers through performance reviews, employee development discussions, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans Analyze workforce metrics, including turnover, absenteeism, overtime, staffing levels, retention, and employee engagement Identify workforce trends and recommend practical, data-driven improvements Support workforce planning based on production requirements, staffing needs, attendance trends, and anticipated growth Support recruitment and hiring efforts for manufacturing, warehouse, administrative, and leadership positions Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs, position requirements, and ideal candidate profiles Help ensure new employees receive an organized, consistent, and positive onboarding experience Monitor early employee retention and recommend improvements to the new-hire experience Develop and support employee engagement, recognition, communication, and retention initiatives Help foster a positive, respectful, accountable, and performance-oriented workplace culture Support company safety initiatives in partnership with operations, quality, safety, and facility leadership Assist with tracking safety-related information and monthly scorecard metrics Contribute to HR technology, process improvement, and digital transformation initiatives Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, consistency, and accuracy of HR systems, processes, reporting, and documentation Maintain a visible and approachable HR presence throughout the manufacturing environment Travel between nearby facilities as business needs require Required Qualifications At least five years of progressive human resources experience Human resources experience within a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or distribution environment Strong employee relations experience, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, performance management, and terminations Bilingual English and Spanish, including the ability to speak, read, and write effectively in Spanish Previous leadership experience with responsibility for at least one direct report Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements Demonstrated ability to coach managers through complex employee and performance-related situations Strong judgment, discretion, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving manufacturing environment Ability to maintain a consistent onsite presence and regularly engage with employees throughout the facilities Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field Experience supporting multiple facilities or employee populations across multiple shifts Experience using HR information systems and workforce reporting tools Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, or HR process transformation Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities Ability to remain calm, objective, and professional during sensitive or challenging employee situations Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities Ability to interpret workforce data and translate findings into actionable recommendations Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader HR team Ability to balance employee advocacy with organizational and operational needs High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality This position operates in a combination of professional office and food manufacturing environments. The Human Resources Manager will regularly spend time on the manufacturing floor and interact with employees, supervisors, and leadership throughout the facilities. The position is 100% onsite during the day shift. Minimal local travel will be required between nearby facilities.
