Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a CA RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Evening shift, 5x8-hour shifts from 15:00 to 23:30
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including other campus locations
• Floating notice is typically provided 1.5 hours prior to shift start, with shuttle service available for cross-campus floating
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
• Preferred skills include central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and various respiratory and GI/GU care skills
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serve as the patient's primary nurse, responsible for overall management of nursing care from admission to discharge
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and protection while performing disease prevention and restorative care
• Respond to medical and environmental emergencies as needed
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning travelers must have a minimum 1-year separation before reapplying
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Recognized holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with holiday periods running from 7:00 PM the night before through 7:00 AM the day after
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Re-orientation only required if separated 6+ months since last shift at this facility
