Paralegal III Supporting the US Attorney's Office

Paralegal III (United States Attorney’s Office) This position involves supporting the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) as a Paralegal III. Responsibilities Assist AUSAs conducting witness interviews and preparing a record of the interviews for use at deposition. Contractor employees shall identify themselves as a contractor during phone and face‑to‑face interviews. Review title commitments for accuracy and create deed history summaries. Prepare Declarations of Taking Reports, Amended Declarations of Taking (ADT) Reports, Complaints, Notices and Joint Motions to Close, and Motions to Suppress; summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; and control exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial for assigned cases. Document landowner complaints and responses in a monthly report. Support and assist attorneys in the courtroom by preparing exhibit cross‑references and screening documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. Identify types of record‑keeping systems and relevant records; gather, sort, and interpret data from various record systems, including computer information systems. Develop statistics and tabulations (e.g., standard deviations, regression analyses, weighting) to provide leads and supportive data for case litigation; prepare charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate results; analyze data and develop recommendations and justifications for the attorney(s) who will take the matter to court. Design and develop systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits, and other case‑specific materials. Perform other related duties as assigned and within scope. Qualifications Two‑year degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Business/Business Administration/Finance, English/Journalism, or a related field; or high school diploma/equivalent and Paralegal Certificate. Minimum three (3) years of experience providing legal support, such as independently drafting correspondence, pleadings, motions, and proposed orders. Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Experience and expertise in performing the duties described in the position description. Preferred Qualifications Legal experience in real estate, mineral interests, and oil and gas matters. Requirements This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7‑year (or 10‑year) minimum background investigation.
