Clinical Research Charge Nurse - West Bend, WI

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Research Charge Nurse/Charge Technician to oversee daily clinical operations on a clinical research study floor. This leadership role ensures that clinical studies are conducted in compliance with study protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory guidelines while maintaining participant safety and high-quality standards.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent clinical judgment, problem-solving skills, and experience in clinical research or a healthcare leadership environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical operations and coordinate study floor activities.
• Supervise and support clinical staff while ensuring adherence to study protocols and SOPs.
• Maintain compliance with ICH/GCP, NIH, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Monitor study progress and promptly escalate study-related issues when necessary.
• Document and report adverse events, ensuring appropriate follow-up and participant safety.
• Administer investigational products following the 5 Rights of Medication Administration.
• Perform dose verification and ensure accurate medication administration.
• Maintain secure storage and accountability of investigational products.
• Complete required documentation, logs, and quality metrics accurately.
• Assist with staff training, process monitoring, and compliance activities.
• Perform delegated clinical procedures, including:
• Vital signs
• ECG/EKGs
• Specimen collection
• Medication administration
• Subject assessments
• Medical histories and questionnaires
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional clinical research environment.

Qualifications

• Medical background required (RN, LPN/LVN, Paramedic, EMT, Medical Assistant, or equivalent clinical experience).
• Clinical research experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse, supervisory, or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines, SOPs, and clinical research regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Strong computer proficiency and attention to detail.
• CPR certification required (or ability to obtain within one year).
• ACLS certification preferred (or ability to obtain within one year, if applicable).

Schedule

• Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform clinical duties throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to distinguish colors and maintain near and distance vision required for clinical tasks.
