Part-Time Groundskeeper

The Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) is seeking a dependable and hardworking Part-Time Groundskeeper to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming communities. This position plays a vital role in supporting FWHA's mission of providing quality housing and meaningful services to residents throughout Fort Wayne.

Key Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Groundskeeper, you will help preserve the appearance, cleanliness, and overall functionality of FWHA properties.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain clean, organized shared spaces, including lobbies, offices, community rooms, restrooms, and laundry facilities.
• Document completed work, materials used, and time spent through FWHA's work order system.
• Sweep, mop, buff, and wax floors to ensure common areas remain safe and well maintained.
• Keep grounds, parking lots, hallways, and refuse areas clean and free of debris.
• Empty trash receptacles in offices and common areas on a regular schedule.
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including raking, weeding, trimming, and general landscaping.
• Assist with snow removal and salting of walkways during winter weather conditions.
• Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and motorized machinery used in groundskeeping and custodial work.
• Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Support FWHA's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Work collaboratively with team members and assist with additional tasks as needed.
• Represent FWHA in a positive manner and help promote awareness of our services and community impact.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One (1) year of custodial, maintenance, or groundskeeping experience preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet FWHA vehicle insurance requirements.

Technical Skills

• Ability to safely operate hand tools and groundskeeping/maintenance equipment.
• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.
