Greater Good Charities is a 501(c)(3) global nonprofit organization that works to help people, pets, and the planet by mobilizing in response to need and amplifying the good. To date, we have provided over $1B in aid, expertise, and funding in 121 countries in support of this mission.

The Veterinary Services program deploys specially trained, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) surgical teams and professional trapping teams to help control pet overpopulation in underserved communities at no cost. The program also provides vaccinations, community education, and training opportunities for local veterinarians.

Position Overview:

Greater Good Charities is seeking a seasonal, hourly Volunteer Coordinator to assist in managing the volunteer lifecycle for national and international spay/neuter clinics - from pre-clinic recruitment and shift scheduling, through onsite leadership during deployments, to post-clinic survey collection and reporting.

This is a seasonal, hourly, remote position with frequent travel and extended hours required during clinic deployments. Travel must be approved before booking.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre - clinic:

• Assist with volunteer recruitment, event scheduling, and shift sign-ups in Rosterfy, in coordination with Veterinary Services staff, ground partners and the Director of Global Volunteer Development
• Communicate with volunteers as needed leading up to each clinic, including confirmations, logistics details, and expectations
• Maintain volunteer records and relationships in Rosterfy

During deployments:

• Provide on-the-ground volunteer leadership throughout Veterinary Services' clinic deployments, in coordination with Veterinary Services staff - including vetting, screening, and placing volunteers based on clinic needs and individual skillsets
• Conduct volunteer orientation and daily check-in, assigning roles across intake, kennels, tech prep, and client support based on skill and clinic flow
• Act as liaison between clinic leads, GGC staff, and volunteers, for volunteer needs, comfort and safety during and outside of clinic hours
• Manage on-site shift transitions, pairing new volunteers with experienced ones and backfilling roles to maintain coverage
• Monitor on-site volunteer and client safety and comfort, including weather mitigation, hydration, and breaks
• Support end-of-day wrap-up, including discharge assistance, cleanup, and volunteer transport as needed
• Distribute post-clinic satisfaction surveys and collect responses

Post - Clinic:

• Maintain and analyze volunteer feedback data; identify trends and recommend improvements
• Support volunteer data tracking, reporting, and documentation for grants and budgets
• Assist in other volunteer-related activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
• 2-4 years of experience in volunteer coordination, animal sheltering, or veterinary clinic support
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience managing scheduling or sign-up logistics
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; comfortable managing multiple moving parts at once
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, field-based environments
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel for deployments up to 40% of schedule

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinics
• Familiarity with Rosterfy or similar volunteer management software
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or project management tools
• Experience with survey tools and data reporting
• Budget or financial tracking experience

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent travel, including weekends and up to 12 hour workdays during deployment
• Work may occur in varied or austere environments with accommodations shared with GGC staff and/or volunteers
• Ability to stand for extended periods during clinic deployments
