Production Control Manager

Production Control ManagerSmith Ironworks is an AISC Certified Fabricator of structural and miscellaneous steel, serving commercial, industrial, and heavy-civil clients throughout Southern California and Nevada. Our shop operates using a Tekla PowerFab workflow, and accurate production data is a key part of how we schedule, fabricate, and ship work efficiently. We are looking for a Production Control Manager to help manage production data, support shop workflow, and ensure information moves accurately from detailing to the fabrication floor.Key ResponsibilitiesImport bills of material and CNC/KISS files from detailing into Tekla PowerFabBuild combines and nests to optimize material usage, including stock and remnantsGenerate and manage routings, travelers, barcodes, and shop paperworkAdvance items through workstations, including saw, fit, weld, paint, and shippingMaintain accurate real-time production status updatesManage steel inventory, stock levels, and material allocation based on job requirementsCoordinate with detailing, purchasing, and production management regarding releases, shortages, and job prioritiesRun production, backlog, and labor reports for managementIdentify and communicate bottlenecks or production concerns earlyMaintain PowerFab data integrity, including workstations, sequences, statuses, and job setupSupport shipping by preparing load lists, bundle tags, and delivery documentationRequired Qualifications3–5+ years of experience in steel fabrication production control, scheduling, or shop data managementHands-on experience with Tekla PowerFab/EPM production module requiredAbility to read structural drawings, shop drawings, and bills of materialStrong understanding of steel fabrication flow, including cutting, fitting, welding, finishing, and shippingHighly organized and detail-orientedStrong data accuracy and follow-throughAbility to coordinate effectively with detailing, purchasing, management, and shop personnelPreferred QualificationsExperience administering or configuring PowerFab, including workstations, statuses, or user setupFamiliarity with Tekla Structures or SDS/2 detailing outputKnowledge of AISC and AWS D1.1 standardsExperience with nesting, optimization, and material managementBilingual in English and Spanish preferredWhy Join Smith IronworksEstablished AISC Certified Fabricator with a steady and growing backlogShop already operating on Tekla PowerFabOpportunity to take ownership of the production-control processDirect communication with management and ownershipBenefits available, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays, and 401(k)How to ApplyInterested candidates may submit their resume and a brief summary of their PowerFab and production-control experience to:Email: View email address on click.appcast.io Phone: 760-948-1001Smith Ironworks is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
