Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive educational environment near York, PA. This long-term position runs through the end of May 2027, offering valuable experience in Autistic Support classrooms. You'll work collaboratively with a dedicated team, including PCA support staff, to ensure every student reaches their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate required
- Experience or coursework in special education, specifically with students on the autism spectrum, is highly desirable
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet diverse learner needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in autistic support rooms
- Create engaging lesson plans that address cognitive, behavioral, and social goals
- Work closely with support staff, including Personal Care Assistants (PCAs), to provide comprehensive care and instructional support
- Actively monitor and document student progress
- Maintain regular communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and school meetings as needed
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with hours from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, offering a predictable and stable routine. You’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and colleagues in a role designed to make a profound impact.
