Pittsburgh Transportation Group is seeking a full-time Dispatcher to support our daily transportation operations. In this critical role, you will coordinate driver assignments, monitor service activity, communicate with drivers and customers, and help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services throughout our network.

Available Shifts

Monday - Friday | 3:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Sunday - Thursday | 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM

What You'll Do as a Dispatcher:

Dispatch Operations & Service Coordination

• Coordinate and assign daily trips, routes, and transportation services.
• Monitor transportation activities to ensure services operate on schedule.
• Maintain communication with drivers to provide updates, instructions, and support.
• Respond quickly to service changes, delays, traffic issues, and operational challenges.
• Ensure proper service coverage by coordinating vehicle and driver availability.
• Communicate schedule modifications and route changes as needed.

Driver Support & Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers during daily operations.
• Provide trip assignments, route information, and operational guidance.
• Assist drivers with resolving issues encountered during service.
• Monitor driver performance, attendance, and schedule adherence.
• Support safe and efficient transportation operations through proactive communication.

Customer Service & Problem Resolution

• Assist customers with transportation inquiries, scheduling updates, and service requests.
• Provide timely and professional communication regarding trip status and service changes.
• Address customer concerns and coordinate resolutions efficiently.
• Maintain a high level of customer service while balancing operational priorities.
• Help ensure a positive transportation experience for every passenger.

Operations Monitoring & Administrative Support

• Track trip activity, service performance, and operational metrics.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records, schedules, and transportation documentation.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel regarding vehicle availability and service status.
• Document incidents, service interruptions, and operational updates.
• Assist management with reporting, scheduling adjustments, and operational planning.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and service quality.

What We're Looking for in a Dispatcher:

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Dependable, proactive, and team-oriented attitude.
• Strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in dispatching, transportation operations, logistics, fleet coordination, scheduling, customer service, or a related field.
• Experience using dispatch, scheduling, or transportation management software.
• Knowledge of transportation operations and fleet logistics.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond quickly to changing conditions.
• Experience working in a transportation, trucking, transit, paratransit, taxi, limousine, or logistics environment.
