This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex middleware challenges, improving automation, and partnering closely with technical teams to keep systems running smoothly.ResponsibilitiesProvide ongoing IBM WebSphere application server administration and middleware support for critical business applicationsInstall, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain WebSphere environments, including application server, Java, and plugin componentsSupport high availability, failover, disaster recovery, and security-related configurationsManage junctions, certificates, load balancing, and performance tuning activitiesDevelop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Python, and shell scriptingCollaborate with development, operations, and security partners to identify and implement automation opportunitiesDocument processes, procedures, and best practices to support long-term maintainabilityShare knowledge and help strengthen in-house expertise through collaboration and mentoringInvestigate and resolve complex technical issues across automated and middleware environmentsContinuously improve automation frameworks for scalability and reliabilitySkillsStrong hands-on experience as a WebSphere Application Server AdministratorSolid understanding of IBM WebSphere version 8.5.5 and 9 ND editionAdvanced UNIX administration and scripting skills, including shell scriptingExperience with Python and/or Jython scriptingKnowledge of middleware troubleshooting, installations, and configuration managementFamiliarity with security configuration, certificate management, and performance tuningExperience supporting MQ, file transfer, and database connectivity with WebSphereStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with technical teamsComfort with change management processes and production support practicesPreferred SkillsExperience with WebSphere Liberty or other WebSphere-related platformsExposure to XL Deploy or similar automation toolsHands-on Ansible automation experienceFamiliarity with CI/CD practices and GitLabWorking knowledge of AWS and TerraformBackground supporting enterprise-scale applications and infrastructureHorizontal Talent is committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where all candidates feel welcomed and supported.
